Why appear for GRE 2022?

GRE is widely accepted by universities while providing admission to graduate programs. Therefore, the students who wish to enrol in MS programs, MBA programs, professional degree programs, or thesis work must take the GRE General Test or GRE as part of the university admissions process. Besides, business schools nowadays prefer GRE results compared to the GMAT exam. It is a standard criterion for the conventional business school entry. A small but growing number of law schools in the United States allow students to submit their GRE scores if they haven’t appeared for the LSAT, the standard exam accepted by law schools while providing admission to the students.

When should the candidates appear for the GRE Test?

Candidates should know whether it is GRE 2022 at Home or a GRE at test centres. They can select the alternative that they find convenient from any corner of the globe. Instead, they can prepare and appear for this exam as soon as they wish to clear according to their need. No other time restrictions other than the requirement or need of the students are applicable for this test. However, GRE specialists will still say that the perfect time to clear the GRE is 60 – 90 days before the students need to submit the result somewhere. Therefore, the candidates get enough time to appear again for this exam if necessary.

GRE Exam Types

The GRE Exam comes in two types, viz. GRE General Test and GRE Subject Test.

1) GRE General Test verifies the overall preparedness of the students who wish to secure admission in graduate courses.

2) GRE Subject Test verifies the students’ preparedness concerning specific subjects.

GRE General Test

GRE General Test comes in 3 formats:

GRE Computer Based Test is the GRE General Test taken on a PC at a pre-designated GRE testing centre. The candidates can take this test from any nation that has internet connectivity and availability of computer systems and technologies. It is the most common way of appearing for the General GRE Exam.

Paper-based GRE Exam is generally held at a designated GRE testing centre in places where the internet connectivity is not robust enough or has limited options for computer technologies. It is a pen-paper test, but the students in India do not have the option to give a paper-based GRE test.

Home-based GRE tests were introduced during the pandemic to ensure the maximum safety of the students. The candidates need to ensure that the system requirements set by ETS are met and that the environment while appearing for the exam remains good enough throughout the exam duration.

GRE Subject-wiseTest

Candidates should be aware that the GRE Subject-wise Test applies only to the subjects like Psychology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. Subjects like Biochemistry, Biology, etc., are no longer available for the GRE subject-wise tests. It is a paper-based exam organised thrice every year in April, September, and October. The students get 2 hours and 50 minutes to complete the test based on either of the subjects mentioned above.
